SFA - Week of Action Report

For those of you who were involved in our awesome display of solidarity at the Anti-Slavery March at the St. Johns Town Center, you know what this is about! We were part of a nation wide week of action led by the Student Farmworker Alliance (SFA) and the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) against the supermarket industry giants (Ahold, Kroger, Trader Joes and Publix) who refuse to work with the CIW towards fair labor practices in our agricultural fields.

You can and SHOULD check out the Week of Action Report on the SFA website! Here you can see what student activists organized from Berkeley, CA to New York City, to all over the Southeast!

A special shout out to Lady Gaga at Trader Joes in Berkeley:

And to the Trader Joes Tomatoes in NYC:

Join us - become a part of this national movement against social and environmental injustices!

WE WANT FAIR FOOD, AND WE WANT IT NOW!

Si se puede!

Greetings Fair Food Nation!

Welcome to the blog!

This will be our space to discuss the fair food movement in Jacksonville.
I am glad to say our movement has gotten of to a great start. As many of you already know we have already conducted two successful Publix demonstrations within the past month. Both of these demonstrations gained the attention of Publix. At both events we were met by managers, corporate executives and police officers. I am glad to see that Publix would rather spend their resources on blocking any concern by their consumers than paying farm workers a fair wage. All I can say is “Publix, Shame on You!”

If you missed the action, no worries there are more to come. Here is a link to some awesome pictures and a story that was published on UNFSpinnaker.com.
